K. A. Ross, Elementary Analysis: The Theory of Calculus, 2nd Edition, Springer.

Material:

We will cover Chapters 1 - 3 of the book. The course will develop the foundations of analysis, with an emphasis on mathematical rigor. You will be expected to know how to formulate and write a correct mathematical proof.

Exam Schedule:

Midterm: Friday, February 14, 11:00-11:50 am in HH 262

Final Exam: Friday, March 20, 8:00 - 10:00 am in HH 262

No makeups are allowed for the midterm and for the final examination. The final and midterm exams must be taken in order to receive a passing grade.

Grading Policy: 

Homework - 25%

Midterm - 35%

Final Exam - 40%

Failure of turning in three or more homework assignments leads to a failing grade in this course.

Homework: 

There will be eight homework assignments. Homework will be assigned on Tuesday and will be collected every Tuesday in the discussion section the week after. Homework must be stapled and clearly labelled with your name and ID. Graded homework will be returned to you in discussion section the following Tuesday.  

No late homework will be accepted under any circumstances.
